UAE to Launch Flying Taxi in Abu Dhabi This Year

Abu Dhabi is set to introduce its first flying taxi service in the coming months. Archer Aviation, a US eVTOL manufacturer, has partnered with Abu Dhabi Aviation (ADA) to deploy the Midnight aircraft, a four-passenger electric air taxi. The first passenger flights are expected later this year.

Strategic Partnership for Urban Air Mobility

An agreement between Archer and ADA has been signed to finance the deployment of the Midnight Launch Editionaircraft. Both companies will collaborate on pilot training, flight operations, and community engagement. Archer will also provide technical teams and software infrastructure to support operations.

 Faster, Sustainable Travel Between Emirates

The Midnight aircraft is designed for short, rapid flights, reducing travel time between emirates. A 60-90-minute car journey will be cut to 10-30 minutes. Ticket prices for the flying taxi will range from Dh800 to Dh1,500 for Dubai-Abu Dhabi routes and Dh350 for intra-city travel.

UAE’s First Flying Taxi Network

Archer will manufacture the Midnight aircraft in the UAE to expand the service across the region. The company will also work with the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) to ensure a smooth launch.

Additionally, Joby Aviation is collaborating with Dubai to develop its own air taxi service, with Dubai International Vertiport (DXV) as a key hub.

Archer’s CEO, Adam Goldstein, emphasized that the Launch Edition is the first step in scaling operations worldwide, making urban air mobility a reality.
