The UAE has cracked down on telemarketing violations, suspending several mobile numbers and imposing fines.
Over 2,000 violations have been detected under new regulations introduced in August 2024, which prohibit using personal numbers for marketing.
The Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA) now imposes fines of Dh5,000 for a first offense, Dh20,000 for a second, and Dh50,000 for a third within 30 days, with further penalties like suspending services.
Telemarketing calls are restricted to 9 am-6 pm, and repeated or aggressive tactics are banned. Companies violating these rules face fines ranging from Dh5,000 to Dh150,000, with penalties increasing for repeated offenses.
The regulations aim to protect residents from deceptive and intrusive calls.
